One year ago today, an article of tribute I wrote to Irene Gossin was published in the local “Post” newspapers. As the second Democrat supervisor in Penfield when she was elected in 1971 (although I have not been able to find anyone who can name the first), we have Irene (and her administration) to thank for leadership exemplified by forethought, informed decision-making, action, and care. We have her to thank for showing us what successful, progressive Democrat leadership looks like. We also have her to thank for this current iteration of The Penfield Optimist…the name she conjured up for the Penfield Democratic Committee’s newspaper that was published during the Gossin era. Thanks, Irene for all of this…among many other things that you can read about here.
Thanks to Irene L. Gossin!
